Back to School Event Seeking Community Support
Organizers of one of the largest back to school events in the city are in need of volunteers. Hopenow and Give a Kid a Backpack are seeking volunteers to help stuff, pack and hand out 9000 backpacks. The 2010 stuffing the backpack event will be held August 11,12 and 13 from 5pm. until 9 p.m. at the Amway Arena 600 West Amelia Street Orlando, FL 32801-1107.
Last year the event passed out backpacks loaded with school supplies to 7,500 children. The sluggish economy is likely to increase the number of backpacks needed to 9,000.
